I could've gotten a bambi in one run, but I haven't had those kind of runs until I was r7 :P
I don't think I ever won halls unranked. When I was unranked halls was a lot harder to win 4- or 5-way, plus a 10-minute timer favoured the holding team more and it took more skill to take the altar. Which is something an unranked pug lacks. Plus, before the nerf (no, I won't call it "change", it was a nerf) people got a lot less skips, so less chances for that win due to stupid luck.

when you get high rank anything under 100 fame a day is considered bad, back on topic, the first time i won hoh was with a friend and we held 5 times with some korean people, i had just gotten r1 before joining that group and ended up as r2 when the run was over.

My first win (and sadly, since then, only) HoH win was when I had less than 20 fame.

Pre r3 I won it twice.
First time was henchway, took the altar from brehon and fought an r9 pug
Second time was henchway, held against two iway teams
I got two sigils, since the chest drops the same amount of stuff even with henchies. Or so I believe.
The team was me, an r9 friend of mine, a r6 friend of his, and an unranked infuser we randomly invited.

I'm just barely passed rank1 but I've been to halls about 10 times, sometimes with pugs, sometimes with guildies.
each time we were either bested by a top ranking guild or got to cocky for our own good.... Well except the last time we were there when the stupid ghost and I got friggen stuck in the stairs RIGHT AT THE ALTER! I had ghostly and since I couldn't move, neither would he... I was one step from where he should be *sighs* I've been too ticked to play since then >_<
Never won halls yet, but I will some day. I'm not in any rush and all my fame has been adding up from putting new guildie pvpers through the paces so yeah.. *shrugs*

Halls is a bit poor in my opinion. it does feel nice I guess winning, but to me, it just doesn't feel like much of an achievement, _some_ of the teams that consistently win just really aren't all that great. The standards are extremely low in general so it just doesn't feel much like a big deal when winning halls.
Personally I don't play halls much for such reasons, I didn't actually win halls till i was rank 4. At times now though, when entering with a team that's got even a hint of skill you know you're probably going to win the halls, at the very least get there. I'm rank 8, I've never really grinded any of it, the vast majority of it comes from getting good 7-8 win streaks every so often. Without getting skips, and with the luck of avoidning courtyards altar ganks chances are you'll face a lot of unorganized pick ups. There are still some good organized teams in HA (iA, QQ, some known pugs like sama) ... and there's teams like LuNa who I'm pretty sure don't even use voice communication, and they win a lot... the fact they can do so without much communication says a lot

I like the time being reduced because no one did anything in halls matches anyways until at the very earliest 3 minutes in halls anyways. How often did you honestly see teams running around attacking each other at the 7 minute mark in an old type halls match. It saves alot of wasted time which could be used getting more fame.

I concur, I think they should make courtyard the same too, and make broken tower three teams and 5 minutes too

My IRC quote: HoH is a sawmill for noobs with nubs where even henchies can win the mission!
And it's true, it's not as tough as it used to be, it's not as challenging when you know what builds are there or if its one of those "special" times when NO ONE is there then henchway ftw! Since most of the top guilds stopped running in there I have had no interest in playing, because I want that challenge and it's just not there anymore. I mean the best feeling was being in a more than horribly ranked guild and going up against a rank 15 guild and surviving the onslaught! Even if we didn't win it, it felt like we at least accomplished something... *shrugs* That's just my opinion though >_>
